Growing up, the walls at home were filled with my sister's paintings and my brother's illustrations. Out of the three of us, I was the only one that couldn't draw. And so, I never considered myself a creative.
But, what I came to realize was that I did have that same eye for detail. In art, clothing, furniture, home decor, food, cars, apps, movies...I had always been very judgmental observant.
In everything, but especially software, I could never stop asking myself why things had to be the way they were, so I changed it. In the summer of 8th grade, I made my first ever prototype in Sketch.
And from then, I never stopped.
But even if I had spent all night working on a design, it never felt real enough to me. I didn't want to present my designs as a series of pictures, but instead an experience where the fluidity of the design carried through into the interactions, which is when I started also learning how to code.
Now at UCLA, I’m a double major in Business Economics and Cognitive Science where most of my time is spent learning about firm management, human psychology, and computer science theory.
An odd combination for a designer, I know. But, in unexpected moments, I’ve always found that interdisciplinary approach to learning to be a superpower for me.
I was born in Hong Kong, grew up in Shanghai, go to school in Los Angeles, and most recently spent the summer working in New York City. I also grew up playing a lot of competitive tennis, traveling all across Asia and Europe to train and compete.
Growing up, I was lucky enough to experience so many different things from countries to foods. And these days, I’m so grateful that that luck has continued for me.
Over the past few years, I’ve been so fortunate to have worked with some of the biggest companies in tech, get thousands of readers on my blog posts, become a founding designer with a family member, and all the while not even know if what I’m doing counts as work or play.
If I were to describe how I feel in my career and life, I’d say happily dissatisfied. Once again, I’m so grateful with how things have panned out for me already, but I also know that this is just the beginning. There’s so much for me to learn and so many things I want to do. So, here’s a random and messy collection of priorities, current projects, and future aspirations:

Along my journey, I've picked up a lot of inspiration from all over: fashion, interior design, art, etc. More specific to tech though, here are some of my favorites.
